Albert V. Ancelet graduated from Carthage High School located in Carthage, Illinois in 1965. After high school he served four years in the United States Air Force, being stationed for one year in Southeast Asia. He was honorably discharged in 1969.

He then attended Illinois State University, graduating in 1972. He enrolled at Chicago-Kent College of law in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in June 1975. While attending law school, he served as a member of the Student Bar Association and was a member of the Dean’s Selection Committee.

Mr. Ancelet was admitted to the Bar in the Fall of 1975 and he became an Associate of Capps & Ripple Law Firm. He became a partner in May 1976.

He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Hancock County Bar Association. He is an active member of the Capital Litigation Trial Bar and serves on the Screening Committee for the Capital Litigation Trial Bar.

He has been a past president of the Carthage Kiwanis Club, the Jaycees, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Carthage Memorial Hospital and the Hancock County Nursing Home.

Mr. Ancelet enjoys golfing, racquetball, downhill skiing and hunting. He is single and has two children, Jeff of St. Louis, Missouri, and Amy of Tempe, Arizona.
